The Best Carrier Oils For Your Skin

Need to know which carrier oil is right for you? Look no further.

In this post we will be covering three of our favourite carrier oils for skin care. If you want to know more about what a carrier oil is, or want a refresher on the subject, please read our blog post on carrier oils. Carrier oils are a great way to add hydration and moisture to your skin, plus with a carrier oil you can be sure you are using only Mother Nature’s finest ingredients, this is a great way to remove synthetic and harmful products from your skin care routine.

Carrier oils are absorbed effortlessly by your skin, because they are pure, additive free, and protect your skin’s delicate lipid barrier, effectively stopping dehydration in its tracks. Did you know that your top layer of skin, called the stratum corneum consists almost entirely of dead skin cells, and that oily lipids keep it together? By continuously supplying the stratum corneum with healthy and nourishing carrier oils, your skin will be protected from the effects of the elements, while basking your skin in beautiful radiance. Now let’s take a look at the top five oils to help you unlock your skins potential, balance oil production, improve skin texture, and reduce the visible signs of aging!

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is one of the most common and versatile of the carrier oils, and interestingly enough it is actually a liquid wax ester, created by cold-pressing jojoba seeds. Jojoba oil so closely resembles your skin’s sebum, your own body cannot even tell the two apart! This means it is absorbed quickly into your skin, deeply sealing in nutrients and moisture.

Jojoba oil is noncomedogenic, making it an incredible carrier oil for people with sensitive skin or easily clogged pores. Jojoba oil helps your body control excess sebum production, making your skin look less oily and even helps prevent pore blockages that may cause acne.

Jojoba oil is packed with natural forms of vitamin E, which work as antioxidant on your skin, fighting the oxidative stress caused on your skin by everyday exposure to toxin and pollutants. Could jojoba get any better? The answer is yes! Jojoba oil also contains both antimicrobial and antifungal properties, even killing the toxins that cause salmonella, E. coli, and candida.

We suggest starting with jojoba oil if carrier oils are new for you, especially since it is hypoallergenic, meaning allergic reactions are very rare.

Rosehip Oil

Are you looking for an oil that will help reverse the proverbial hand of time? Rosehip carrier oil fights the visible signs of aging, such as wrinkles and will brighten and moisturize your skin. Rosehip oil is packed with vitamin C, a nutrient known to reduce wrinkles, making you look younger, and even helps to repair UV damage from the sun’s rays.

Rosehip oil is a great moisturizer for dry and cracked skin, it is high in essential fatty acids, which help to replenish the skin’s moisture barrier. These fatty acids soften and smooth out the skin, while also firming and increasing its elasticity!
Rosehip oil helps reduce inflammation and scarring of the skin, so if you’ve recently acquired a scar, applying rosehip oil topically may help. A 2015 study on post-surgical scarring revealed participants who used Rosehip oil on their scars had less inflammation and scarring compared to participants who did not.

Argan Oil

Argan carrier oil is renowned for its vast array of beneficial characteristics, from immensely moisturizing to protecting your skin against the sun’s damage! If you are looking for a moisturizing oil that absorbs quickly, leaving little or no residue, look no further!  Argan oil boasts high levels of vitamin E, which act as antioxidants, and contains saponins, those amazing skin-softening agents.
Argan oil is great in the anti-aging department; it helps to reduce those pesky fine lines and wrinkles by reinvigorating the skin’s hydro-lipid layer. Moreover, it helps skin look younger because Argan oil is known to have a tightening effect on skin when applied topically.

Are you planning to go outside and enjoy a beautiful sunny day? Try applying Argan oil topically to exposed areas to help protect the skin against the harmful damage of the sun, if taken orally in parallel, benefits are increased. Please note Aragn oil will not replace sunscreen.
Argan oil is abundant in antioxidants and vitamin E, making it a powerful protector against bacteria and fungus. It can be used both preventatively and actively to prevent and treat a variety bacterial and fungal skin infections.

Don’t forget it is important: to maximize the benefits of your oils, select only 100% pure, cold pressed, and organic oils, from a trusted and reputable source.  Also don’t forget to look for our next blog post in this series where we will cover 3 more of the best carrier oil for your skin.
